This unforgettable Meerkat Experience at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World gives you the chance to get closer than ever before in a fun, hands-on animal encounter.
Based in Shropshire, this popular meerkat zoo experience is available for groups of 2, 4 or 6 people and lasts approximately one hour. Throughout the session, you’ll be welcomed by experienced zoo keepers who will guide you safely into the meerkats’ environment and share fascinating insights into their behaviour, diet and social structure.
The highlight? Hand-feeding the meerkats yourself. Watch as they scamper over excitedly, using you as a climbing frame while gently taking their favourite treats. You’ll feel their tiny paws as they explore and interact, a truly memorable meerkat feeding experience that’s both heartwarming and hilarious.
There’s also the opportunity to stroke and play with one of the hand-reared meerkats, making this a genuinely immersive meerkat encounter rather than simply watching from the sidelines. With keepers on hand throughout, you can ask questions, learn more about conservation efforts and understand what makes these animals so unique.
Your experience also includes full admission to Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World, allowing you to explore the rest of the zoo before or after your session. From exotic animals to the impressive Hoo-Rassic World dinosaur attraction, there’s plenty to enjoy during your visit.

The welfare of the animals is of utmost importance and we are privileged to get so close to them. They will not be forced to do anything against their nature and all interaction is done on their terms.

The experience is one hour long and will be taken in groups of 4-6.
The experience provider advises booking at least 8 weeks in advance.
Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.
Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.

Was treated to this as a family gift and my kids loved it. The meerkats were so sweet and having the chance to stroke them and feed them was incredible. A great thing to do with kids and the rest of Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World are worth visiting too.

After a 2 hour drive we were able have breakfast at a garden centre before entering the zoo. It was more of a wildlife park and the animals were well hidden inside their sleeping quarters because it was so hot. The Meerkat experience was enjoyable, although the staff member that introduced the experience seemed bored and spoke so quickly we didn’t understand what to expect. The guide we then had was very knowledgeable and the contact with the Meerkats very rewarding.
