Based in the West Midlands, this immersive 2-hour junior zoo keeper experience is suitable for ages 6+ and offers a hands-on introduction to the fascinating world of animal care. Guided throughout by experienced zoo keepers, you will learn what it really takes to look after a variety of exotic and unusual species, all while having an unforgettable time.
After a short safety briefing, junior keepers begin their adventure by meeting and interacting with a selection of incredible animals. Depending on the day and animal welfare considerations, they may:
Throughout the session, participants will have the opportunity to hand feed, handle and get close to the animals, all under close supervision. Keepers share fascinating facts about habitats, diets and conservation, making this both a fun and educational experience.
The variety of animals involved can change from day to day to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, meaning every visit feels unique. No matter which animals are included, participants will gain valuable insight into how zoos care for their residents behind the scenes.
Once the keeper experience is complete, participants also enjoy full access to Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World, allowing families to continue exploring the zoo’s animals and attractions at their leisure.

The welfare of the animals is of utmost importance and we are privileged to get so close to them. They will not be forced to do anything against their nature and all interaction is done on their terms.
This experience takes place in groups of 8 people.
Available on selected Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year.
The experience is two hours long.
The experience provider advises booking at least 8 weeks in advance.
Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.
Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
