Guided by a friendly, highly-experienced caving instructor, participants will navigate the subterranean world safely and confidently. Safety is a top priority, with a detailed briefing before entering the caves and all essential equipment provided. Each adventurer is kitted out in a full caving suit, caving belt, knee pads, wellington boots, helmet, and head torch, ensuring comfort and protection throughout the journey.

This immersive, hands-on experience offers the chance to explore both horizontal and vertical routes, crawling, sliding, and climbing through unique underground terrain. Each section of the cave presents a new challenge, making this adventure accessible to all skill levels. Whether a complete beginner or an aspiring spelunker, participants will love discovering the secret corners of Nidderdale’s twelve kilometre network of intertwining passageways.

Small group sizes, with a maximum of 10 participants per instructor, ensure plenty of personal guidance and support. Expert instruction helps participants navigate tricky passages with confidence while revealing fascinating insights about the geology, history, and wildlife of the cave system.

As an extra bonus, participants receive free entry to the gorge on the day, giving the opportunity to explore the dramatic landscape above ground and take in the stunning scenery that complements the underground adventure. Who is this experience suitable for?

No previous experience is necessary making this activity ideal for people of any skill level from ages 7+.  All children must be accompanied by their legal guardian.

The site strives to be as accessible as possible, however, as an adventure park, some areas may be challenging. Please contact the venue for guidance on specific accessibility requirements.

What do I need to bring?

- Comfortable and appropriate outdoor clothes.

- Wellies if you have them (If not, these can be provided on the day).

- A change of clothes for after.

- Any medication you may need.

What happens on the day?

A detailed safety briefing will ensure your preparedness for the subterranean exploration ahead. With all safety equipment provided, including caving suits, belts, knee pads, wellington boots, helmets, and head torches, you’ll feel secure and ready for the thrill. 

Friendly and highly experienced instructors, with a maximum group size of 10 per instructor, are dedicated to guiding you through the depths, ensuring your safety and enjoyment throughout the entire journey.

There are plenty of pathway options available and your caving experience can be tailored to your preferences.

When does this take place?

This experience is available daily. Activities generally start at 10am for morning sessions and 1.30pm for afternoon sessions. This activity is available throughout the year, however, weather conditions are constantly monitored for safety purposes.

Please arrive 30 minutes before your slot and come to reception/café on arrival.
