Each summer, when the Palace isn’t being used for official duties, the doors to its breathtaking State Rooms are opened for visitors. It’s your chance to wander through spaces usually reserved for ceremonies, receptions, and royal gatherings.
Inside, you’ll find yourself surrounded by masterpieces from the Royal Collection. Think Rembrandt and Rubens paintings, sculptures by Canova, and glittering Sèvres porcelain, not to mention some of the finest furniture Britain and France ever produced. Every room feels like stepping into a living storybook of royal history.
Highlights include the State Dining Room, adorned with royal ciphers and historic paintings; the Blue Drawing Room, where guests are formally presented; and the famous Throne Room, which you might recognise from the official wedding photographs of Their Royal Highnesses, The Prince and Princess of Wales.
After soaking up all that royal splendour, it’s time to head to The Clermont, Charing Cross, just a short stroll away, for a well-earned lunch. You’ll enjoy a three-course menu crafted with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, along with a glass of sparkling wine to toast your day out.
