The Buckingham Palace State Rooms were magnificent. Hard to believe the opulence. Too crowded, but that was inevitable. The Palace staff were unfailingly helpful, friendly and good natured. The big problem was the registration process!
As recommended, we arrived at the Ticket Office in plenty of time, which was most fortunate because the ticket staff had no record of our booking, After waiting while the charming young lady at the counter struggled with her keyboard, she apologised before summoning her supervisor for advice. He also couldn't find our booking on their system, so we were asked to wait "for five or ten minutes" while they checked further (they kindly fetched us a chair). After 15 minutes or so, they managed to find the booking and organised our tickets. When I enquired about the tickets for afternoon tea, they told us that they only had a booking for the State Rooms tour and knew nothing about the teas. We momentarily panicked until I realised that they hadn't returned our print-outs of the documentation from Wonder Days, so they disappeared again to locate them. Fortunately they were able to find them and we were able to continue.
Some hour after we had arrived at the Ticket Office, we were finally able to continue queuing to start our tour which, as I've previously said, was great.
Afternoon Tea at the The Clermont Charing Cross was lovely. The staff were charming, friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious, the surroundings luxurious and the tea plentiful. Altogether a very restful and delicious experience. We loved it!
I can’t thank all the staff working within Buckingham Palace as it was a very hot day and I was feeling unwell the staff supported myself and my friend in getting me a walking aid helping myself get lifts up and down gave me water and helped me to the outdoor cafe
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the tea for two at clermont at Charing Cross due to my feeling unwell and having to get home to Lowestoft as soon as I could
The voucher needs to be redeemed for a ticket before entry which is not.made clear. We were there in plenty of time so didn't cause an issue but everyone seemed to be confused. Palace tour was really good. Afternoon tea was amazing - really enjoyable day to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday.
Entry for the State Room Tour was at a pre-arranged time. An audio guide was provided which gave a wealth of information. The staff were on hand to answer any questions.
The interior was impressive. We had a refreshing drink in the Cafe. The gift shop was well stocked & the gardens were beautiful.
After the tour we made our way to Charring Cross to The Clermont Hotel for our Afternoon Tea. The Hotel is excellent the Afternoon Tea was delicious and we were provided with a box to take home the cakes we couldn’t manage to eat. Jusu, Erfu & Badrul attended to us & could not have been more courteous! Badrul introduced us too some teas we hadn’t previously tried & they complemented our Afternoon Tea beautifully.
My husband bought this gift experience for my birthday & it was easy to book & great value for money. I highly recommend.
