Tucked right onto the golden sands of Oxwich Bay in the Gower, this is sauna like you've never done it before. Picture a beautifully crafted wooden barrel sauna, warmed the old-fashioned way by a crackling wood-burning stove, with a huge half-moon window framing nothing but open ocean. No gym-changing-room vibes here, just glowing heat, salty air, and a stunning view.
Here's how it works: warm up in the sauna until you're pleasantly toasty, then step straight out onto the beach and into the sea, your very own natural plunge pool. Back in, out again, repeat as many times as you like over the 55 minute session. It's the ultimate hot-cold reset.
Beyond the sheer joy of it, there's real substance behind the ritual too. Time in the heat helps ease tension and gets your circulation going, while that bracing dip in the sea delivers a genuine mood lift and a rush of energy that's hard to replicate anywhere else. Many people find the whole experience wonderfully meditative, a rare chance to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature.
Whether it's for a birthday gift, an anniversary, a "just because," or a very solid excuse to treat yourself, this sauna experience will be a gift that actually gets used, and genuinely remembered.
Please note that this is a shared experience, not a private experience. Maximum capacity is 10 people.

What to bring for your sauna experience:
2 x towels - one for sitting on and one for drying off with.
Water - Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. This can be refilled on site.
Swimwear - Arrive with your swimwear on already under your clothes to get into the sauna faster.
Flip-flops - For moving between the sauna and the sea.
Warm clothes - To change into after your session.
Please remove any metal jewellery and ensure that your swimwear has no metal fasteners as these will get very hot and can burn.
How long should I spend in the sauna?
It is recommended you spend no more than 10-15 minutes per round in the sauna, before cooling off by dipping in the sea or cooling off with a water bucket or just stepping out into the cold air for a short time. This way you will gain the full benefits of hot to cold exposure.
What are the health benefits of sauna use?
Heat helps relax tense muscles, gets your blood flowing, and many people find it genuinely calming, a great way to switch off after a busy week. Some research even links regular sauna use to better heart health over time.
Why do people combine sauna and cold water (contrast therapy)?
The switch between the two is where the magic happens. Warming up and then cooling down gets your circulation working like a pump, and the contrast tends to leave you feeling more energised than either one on its own. It's why sauna-and-sea (or sauna-and-plunge-pool) has been a tradition in places like Finland and Scandinavia for generations.
Will this help my muscles if I've been active?
It can help you feel looser and less achy, as the heat loosens things up and the cold can calm down any inflammation. Think of it as a proper reset for your body, not just your mind.
What facilities are there on-site?
Changing rooms - There is a small shared changing room for sauna users. Please be mindful of the space and those waiting to use it.
Toilets - Oxwich Beach offers two public toilet facilities. It's important to note that the closest facility closes after 5pm in the summer and remains closed throughout the winter. The second toilet block, located at the opposite end of the car park, is open year-round.
Showers - There are no on-site shower facilities so it is recommended you shower beforehand. Alternatively you can embrace the classic bucket rinse or take a refreshing sea dip for a rejuvenating experience.
Parking - Oxwich Bay car park is next to the site and is the most convenient place to park. However, be mindful that the car park can get busier in the summer. It is recommended you plan your departure with extra time to account for potential queues (Parking charges apply).
Storage - There are storage boxes in the changing room, however space is limited so please bring only the essentials. Please leave valuable items or anything high-risk at home or in your car, as the changing room is not locked. Please be aware that the site cannot guarantee the security of any valuables left for safekeeping.
Are there any medical restrictions to using the sauna?
It is recommended you check with a doctor before using the sauna if you have any heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, are pregnant, diabetic, or have any health issues / concerns or under medical care. This includes history of dizziness or fainting. This also includes any metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any surgical implants including silicon.
It is advised to drink plenty of water before and after your sauna sessions to keep hydrated.
The sauna may use various essential oils and salts. Please use at your own risk. Leave the room immediately if you have any adverse or allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing or eye, nasal or throat irritation.
