About Phantom of The Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is considered one of the most spectacular theatre productions in history with a haunting musical score from Andrew Lloyd Webber. It has played to over 160 million people in 41 countries and 186 cities in 18 languages.

It is based on the French novel "Le Fantôme de l'Opéra" written by Gaston Leroux in 1910.

The story is set in the Paris Opera House in the late 19th century. It revolves around a mysterious figure known as the Phantom, who haunts the opera house and is hidden away in the underground chambers. The Phantom is a disfigured musical genius who has a profound obsession with a young chorus girl named Christine Daaé.

As the story progresses, the Phantom takes on the role of a mentor to Christine, secretly giving her singing lessons and aiding her rise to stardom. He becomes infatuated with her and desires her love. However, Christine falls in love with Raoul, a handsome young nobleman.

Driven by jealousy and possessiveness, the Phantom resorts to acts of violence and manipulation to try to win Christine's affection and ensure her success. He uses his knowledge of the opera house's secret passages and mechanisms to carry out his plans, often creating an atmosphere of fear and terror.

The love triangle between Christine, the Phantom, and Raoul escalates as they confront each other, and the story reaches its climax during a performance of the opera "Don Juan Triumphant." The resolution reveals the tragic backstory of the Phantom and explores themes of love, beauty, obsession, and the consequences of one's actions.

"The Phantom of the Opera" is renowned for its memorable music, including songs like "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," and the iconic title song.
