If you're looking for a fun, creative, and hands-on experience, the Wheel Thrown Pottery Introduction is the perfect gift! This experience is ideal for anyone who’s always wanted to try their hand at pottery but isn’t sure where to start.
During the session, you’ll be getting your hands dirty as you learn the basics of wheel throwing from a talented tutor. You’ll each have your own wheel, so you can truly dive into the experience. The class kicks off with a 10-15 minute demonstration from the tutor, who will walk you through each step. Then, it’s your turn to get your hands on the clay!
The first thing you’ll learn are the basics of how to centre the clay, which is crucial to creating anything beautiful. Your tutor, an experienced potter, will be there to help you do this as it does take a lot of practice! Then you'll learn how to throw a pot on the wheel. You’ll be pulling the clay up and shaping it, creating your masterpiece.
With small class sizes (no more than 8 students), you’ll get plenty of one-on-one attention. And while not every piece you make may survive the process (some may end up in the recycling pile), your best two pieces will be glazed and fired.
Once your pieces are fired and glazed, you can collect them in about 4-5 weeks. It’s a wonderful way to create something unique and personal, and it makes for a fantastic gift idea for anyone who loves trying new things or getting a little creative!

Your best two pieces can be fired and glazed, ready for collection in around 4-5 weeks time. You will be notified when they are ready to collect and the pottery will keep them for about 3 months after notification.

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
