These chilling devices date back to the 1500s and 1600s and are strikingly similar to those used in Auld Reekie. Led by one of Edinburgh’s finest (and most fearless) tour guides, you’ll be taken into the haunted vaults beneath the city, a paranormally active maze of rooms dating back to the 1700s. These are the most extensive set of vaults in Edinburgh’s Old Town and are renowned as one of the world’s most haunted places.

Expect terrifying tales, ghostly happenings, and a whole lot of atmosphere. The guides will share true stories from Edinburgh’s gruesome history, murders, hauntings, and some downright disturbing events.

Who Can Go

Minimum age: 18 years old
Photography is permitted on this tour.
Due to the historic nature of the sites, there are no lifts or ramps. To enter the vaults guests must be able to climb a 2 foot tall step followed by a winding staircase. Due to the walking pace and the terrain, the tour may not be suitable for those with any walking difficulties.
There are no toilets available during this tour.
Animals are not allowed on tours except for assistance animals such as guide dogs.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
