This guided food tour takes place in and around Ancoats and the Northern Quarter, two of the most character-filled parts of Manchester. Once the world’s first industrial suburb, these cobbled streets were home to waves of immigration, bustling mills, and gritty industrial life. Today, they’re packed with award-winning bakeries, independent eateries, and more than a few hidden gems you’d walk straight past without a local to show you the way.
Over 3.5 hours, guests wander between old 19th-century mills and modern hotspots, tasting their way through some seriously good food. Think artisan bakes, legendary local favourites, and even a tucked-away Indian café loved by those in the know. Along the route, there’s also a glass of wine and a unique local tipple to enjoy, because food always tastes better with a drink in hand.
The tour is led by passionate Manchester locals who know the city inside out. You’ll hear tales of crime gangs, immigration, industry, and how these historic streets have ended up doubling as modern-day film sets. It’s history, culture, and food all rolled into one.
