The Full Day Introduction to Rock Climbing Experience in Sussex & Kent is the perfect way to take that first step into the world of outdoor rock climbing. In just one exhilarating day, participants will learn everything they need to begin their climbing journey with confidence.
Led by friendly and experienced instructors, this full-day course covers all the essentials, from tying onto the rope and safely belaying a partner to learning techniques for scaling an outdoor wall. With a full day ahead, the course gradually introduces increasingly challenging routes, ensuring that each climb is tailored to participants' experience levels while delivering the thrill of conquering new heights.
The adventure begins at the stunning sandstone crags of Harrison’s Rocks, a renowned climbing destination. After an introductory safety briefing, the group warms up with bouldering exercises before instructors demonstrate how to fit a harness and helmet. Essential skills like knot-tying and group belaying are covered before heading onto the 30-40ft climbs, giving participants the excitement of their first outdoor ascent.
Throughout the day, climbers will have the chance to try various climbs, including slabs, verticals, cracks, and even overhangs, each offering its own unique challenge.

What You’ll Need to Bring
For all outdoor climbing courses, please come prepared with extra warm layers and waterproof gear. A full kit list will be sent to you upon booking, but here’s a general guide:
*Choose layered clothing to retain warmth. Please avoid denim, as it restricts movement, feels cold when wet, and dries slowly.
**Soft-soled shoes are recomended, like trainers, to protect the rock surfaces. Walking boots or heavy-soled shoes are not permitted, as they can damage the rocks. The climbing area is a short walk from the car park, so be sure to use a rucksack with space to carry any climbing gear provided.

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
