You’re Looking for a Mother’s Day Gift, Aren’t You?
Let’s be honest. You didn’t land here by accident.Mother’s Day is creeping closer, you’ve opened a few tabs, maybe scrolled a bit, and now you’re weighing up your options. Tha...
Immediately it means two polar opposite reactions - heart eyes OR eye rolls.
Whether you are single and searching or happily taken, many people feel a surge of dread approaching that day, for multiple reasons. Excluding florists, card shops and restaurants that is, they’ll be having a field day.
Last year for Feb 14th my partner and I opted for a bottle of wine (mine), some Malibu (hers), a takeaway and a horror film which was a job well done. We don’t really make a fuss on Valentine’s Day, we are both quite cynical.
However with that being said, I’m a Gemini and do like to surprise. So, for once it might be nice to do actually do something for Valentines Day that’s not like the typical candle-lit meal with red balloons and hearts.
We both enjoy days out that could be described as a bit unconventional. A ghost hunt or escape room could be a fun as we do enjoy those, or getting lost in the countryside on walks, discovering picturesque spots and crumbling countryside relics…
Not to forget food, we do like our food related pursuits… or rather she loves cooking (she is an excellent chef) and I love eating! (I always leave glowing reviews)
She adores arts and crafts and has a real talent for it, so a creative experience could be the route to go down, but I’m just not sure it screams Valentine’s Day gift.
The theatre is another good idea – she’s as an ex performing arts girlie and loves musicals so this would be a very good option…
But with so many possibilities, now to find the perfect one!
Cue the final verdict, the perfect solution that would suit us both… a guided foraging and cooking course!
So here it is - an experience that combines exploring and food that we would both actually enjoy and not find completely cringeworthy.
We both enjoy nature, and it would be fascinating to travel to the South Downs to discover what wild food grows in that region. Halfway through our trek we’ll even get to cook our collected ingredients to make some tasty recipes, so that crucial food element is still there!
It’s also important to mention that although convenience food is indispensable to our busy lives, we should remember that there are ingredients freely growing in the wild across the country for us to cook, full of nutrients if you know what you are looking for and this is exactly the place to learn! This is especially important these days in our current financial climate.
This would be perfect as we’d still get a lovely stroll in the countryside and a hearty meal which makes for a great Valentines gift!
