Celebrating International Forests Day!

The International Day of Forests was established over 10 years ago and since that time, each year there are various events to raise awareness and celebrate the importance of forests and woodlands around the world.

How you can help!

Trees are often overlooked, yet they offer profound beauty and a connection to nature. Taking a moment to appreciate their splendour while enjoying the fresh air can be incredibly rewarding. If you prefer a more relaxed approach, consider reflecting on ways to protect trees from deforestation. Simple actions like borrowing books from the library instead of purchasing them, recycling paper, and educating children about conservation can make a significant difference. Raising awareness among the younger generation is key to addressing environmental issues effectively, as they are the future stewards of our planet.

There are several enjoyable ways to mark this occasion. You might consider planting some trees—without feeling obligated to undertake a massive commitment; just one or two in your own backyard would suffice! Perhaps you have a favourite fruit; why not plant a couple of fruit trees? Alternatively, you could celebrate the International Day of Forests by embarking on a hike in a nearby forest or simply taking a leisurely stroll there through your nearby woodlands.
