Get ready to paddle your way through 7km of Sussex’s gorgeous countryside on a kayaking adventure packed with stunning views, fresh air, and plenty of wildlife along the way. Whether it’s your first time in a kayak or you’ve done it before, this is such a fun way to explore the great outdoors from the water. Looking for a brilliant day out with friends or a gift idea that’s a little different? This one’s a winner.
You’ll start off at the calm waters of Barcombe Mills, where friendly instructors will show you the basics like how to steer, stop, and even paddle backwards. Handy stuff, especially when you hit a few little surprises en route (hope your limbo skills are up to scratch!).
Nature is front and centre on this trip. Keep an eye out for herons, swans, Canadian geese, dragonflies, damselflies, and maybe even a trout or two. You won’t need binoculars, your kayak is the best seat in the house. The route also takes you through narrow waterways and over the remains of an old mill, adding a bit of history to your splash of adventure.
This experience is open to everyone, whatever your level. The instructors will keep things at a pace that suits the group, so it’s all about relaxing and having fun. With wildlife, views, and laughs guaranteed, this is one day out you’ll be talking about for ages.

What to Bring
Participants should arrive with warm, waterproof clothing suited to the day’s weather. A complete kit list will be provided upon booking, but here’s a general guide:
The above is a suggested list, and it’s recommended to dress appropriately for the season.
*Layered clothing is ideal for trapping warmth. Denim is discouraged as it restricts movement, feels cold when wet, and dries slowly. Footwear is required while kayaking—old trainers or plimsolls are ideal, while sandals are not recommended. Wetsuits are optional but not essential; if bringing one, layering a warm top over it is suggested.
