The Main Event

Kayak your way through 14km of Sussex countryside on this brilliant River Ouse adventure, starting at the calm waters of Barcombe Mills and finishing in the historic town of Lewes. It’s the perfect mix of fresh air, stunning views, and a splash of adventure, great as a family day out or as a gift with a difference.

As you float downstream, you’ll pass wide-open meadows and greenery that goes on forever. Keep your eyes peeled for herons, swans, and if you’re lucky, the flash of a kingfisher zipping across the water. Don’t worry if you’ve never kayaked before; expert instructors will get you up to speed with the basics so you can just enjoy the ride.

The best part? Your journey ends in Lewes, where Harvey’s Brewery is waiting. It’s the perfect spot to grab a drink, tuck into some food, and chat about your day on the river.

This is a kayaking trip with a bit of everything, nature, adventure, history, and plenty of fun. Whether you’re treating yourself or looking for a unique gift, it’s one to remember.

All essential kayaking and safety gear is included, such as:

What to Bring
Participants should arrive with warm, waterproof clothing suited to the day’s weather. A complete kit list will be provided upon booking, but here’s a general guide:

A full change of clothes for kayaking, including suitable footwear and underlayers
Seasonally appropriate clothing*
Waterproof jacket and trousers for use on the water
Additional jumper or fleece layer for extra warmth
A hat (warm or sun-protective, depending on conditions)
Gloves (optional)
Towel
Snacks and water
Any required personal medication (e.g., inhalers, tablets)

The above is a suggested list, and it’s recommended to dress appropriately for the season.

*Layered clothing is ideal for trapping warmth. Denim is discouraged as it restricts movement, feels cold when wet, and dries slowly. Footwear is required while kayaking, old trainers or plimsolls are ideal, while sandals are not recommended. Wetsuits are optional but not essential; if bringing one, layering a warm top over it is suggested.

Participants must be of a reasonable fitness level and able to swim 50m
Participants must be a minimum of 18 years old
Max weight: 18 stone (115kg)

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
