The Main Event

This is the perfect gift idea for anyone who's ever wanted to learn the ancient craft of blacksmithing.

During this full-day blacksmithing experience, you'll step inside a traditional working forge and discover the fascinating craft of shaping hot metal by hand. Guided by an experienced blacksmith, you'll begin by learning about the essential tools of the trade, traditional forging techniques and how to safely use the forge to heat and manipulate steel.

Once you've mastered the basics, it's time to fire up the forge! You'll learn how to bend, shape and work glowing metal using age-old blacksmithing methods, discovering how heat and hammer work together to transform a simple piece of steel into something truly special.

Throughout the day, you'll create a selection of handmade items to take home, which may include keyrings, Viking-style knives, fire pokers and bottle openers. Every piece is individually forged by hand, making each one completely unique and a lasting reminder of an incredible experience.

No previous blacksmithing experience is required, making this forge experience in Suffolk ideal for complete beginners. It's especially popular as a birthday gift, giving you the chance to enjoy a memorable day out together while learning an impressive new skill.

Important to Note

What to wear
It is recommended to wear thin layers and clothes you don't mind getting dirty, along with sturdy boots. Aprons and other protective equipment will be provided.

What to bring - Please bring your own lunch and water bottle each day.

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Who Can Go

Minimum age: 14
Ages 14 to 17 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
