This Half Day Blacksmithing Taster Session is the perfect choice for anyone who’s ever been curious about traditional skills or loves to try something new. Whether it’s a birthday surprise or a Father’s Day treat, this hands-on blacksmithing experience is one they’ll never forget.
Led by Master Blacksmith William Holland FWCB, this four-hour session offers the chance to learn one of the world’s oldest trades in a real working forge. Guided in small groups to ensure plenty of one-on-one support, participants will get to grips with hot metal, hammering techniques and the satisfying rhythm of forging.
Over the course of the session, either morning or afternoon, you’ll learn the basics of blacksmithing and create your own piece to take home. Think practical, personal items like bottle openers, key rings, wall hooks, or even a fire poker if you’re feeling adventurous. There are plenty of examples to inspire you, and friendly expert guidance every step of the way.
The forge itself is a relaxed and welcoming environment, with everything provided, including all tools, materials and safety gear. You don’t need any previous experience; this is perfect for complete beginners. That said, if you’ve tried forging before, the team can help build on your skills and introduce more advanced techniques.
Suitable for anyone aged 13 or over, this blacksmithing taster session would make a great gift idea for a creative friend, a curious teen, or someone who’s always up for a challenge.
All tools, materials and PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, apron etc) is provided.
Class duration: 4 hours on either a morning or afternoon session.
Classes are subject to availability with approx 1 class a month.
Classes can book up quickly so booking in advance is essential.
Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.
Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
