The Main Event

This Forged Arrowhead Making Experience is a one-of-a-kind experience that lets you step into the world of traditional blacksmithing and create something you can proudly take home.

Ideal for anyone over 13, this hands-on class is perfect for history buffs, craft lovers, and those who like to try something different. Guided by professional master blacksmith Will Holland FWCB, you’ll learn centuries-old techniques once used by Roman smiths, forging your own arrowheads and quarrels from scratch.

The day begins in a welcoming and relaxed forge, where you’ll start by creating simple bodkin and needle-point arrows, the same styles used in warfare and hunting throughout history. As your confidence grows, you’ll move on to refine your skills and have the chance to make a complete arrow with traditional fletching and binding.

Classes are kept small so everyone gets plenty of one-to-one guidance. Whether you’re brand new to forging or already have some experience, Will will tailor the day to suit your level, offering extra tips and advanced tricks for those ready to take it further.

Everything you need is included, tools, materials, safety gear and tuition, so all you have to do is turn up and get stuck in. By the end of the day, you’ll walk away with something you’ve made by hand, along with a real sense of achievement.

Important to Note

All tools, materials and PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, apron etc) is provided.

Class duration: 1 day.

Each person will make their own arrowhead to take home.

When

Classes are subject to availability with approx 1 class a month.

Classes can book up quickly so booking in advance is essential.

Validity

Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.

Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.

Who Can Go

For ages 13+. Under 18's must be accompanied by a adult/guardian (18+), who does not need to pay unless they also wish to participate as well.
Please wear work type clothes, no nylon or synthetics. Jeans and T shirt is most appropriate.
Safety boots are preferred but leather or walking boots would also be suitable. No open toed footwear is allowed in the forge.
Please bring a packed lunch. Tea, coffee and squash is provided.

What about Insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.

How it Works

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
