Top 8 Ways To Use Art For Stress Relief!
Let's be honest: life can be a bit much sometimes. Between work, social media, the endless to-do lists, and—let’s not forget—trying to remember where you left your keys (again...
So, we’re now in the depths of Autumn and seeing all the beautiful colours of reds, oranges and yellows! For me, Autumn is a truly beautiful season and a great appetizer before the magical Winter Season and the main course……Christmas! It won’t be long until the hats, gloves and scarves come out, as well as a cheeky earmuff or two!
For most of us, the thought of jetting away to warmer climates and escaping the cold, dark, dreary days can feel tempting, however not so tempting on the wallet and, let’s face it, who enjoys a boring long haul flight?! Certainly not me!
If you fancy a winter escape and a little bit of RnR, then why not enjoy the following city break to get into the ‘Winter Spirit’!
I’ve always wanted to visit York, I’ve heard so many good things about this City and so this would be my first choice to go this Winter! You can choose to stay at either a 3* or 4* hotel for 1 or 2 nights.
Whilst there you can enjoy a vast array of beautifully restored medieval buildings and the city has many top attractions including the Shambles which is one of the best preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe with cobbles streets and overhanging buildings! The perfect place to dabble in a little Christmas Shopping. York is also home to Clifford's Tower which is Northen England’s Greatest Medieval Royal Fortresses, and the Jorvik Viking Centre where you can travel back to the year AD 975 and get fully immersed in the Viking age!
You can stroll through snickelways (that's York for narrow lanes) and visit York Minster, one of the World’s most magnificent Cathedrals since the 7th Century! Fun fact….York Minster was actually struck by lightening in 1984 and suffered one of the greatest Cathedral Fires in modern times and took over 4 years to be restored to it’s former glory!
York truly promises to deliver on not just history and architecture but also a little dose of mystery where you can enjoy the Original Ghost Walk of York, a Ghost Bus Tour and you can even check out the York Dungeon!
If food and drink is more your thing then you can also immerse yourself in the ‘York Appetite Food Tour’ which has had some fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor where you are taken around the cultural centre of the city and you get to stop at 5 different places for food and drink tasting. Definitely up my street!
For me, York is the perfect break with a friend or a loved one and with so many things to do for people of all ages!
